Notice any similarities? Any patterns? What words come up more than once?
Here\u2019s my interpretation.
While in fact almost all of the teachers were chosen at least once, a theme that kept recurring was someone who looks like a teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Does that make sense? Let me explain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We all have ideas of what people in certain professions look like \u2013 banker, DJ, nanny \u2013 and with no other information available, we\u2019re looking to match what we see to what we expect to see. In fact, I would say even with overwhelming credentials and references, appearance is still the most important factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Would you hire a rapper for your record label who looked like a banker?
Would you hire a spokesman for your bank who looked like a rapper?
Do you want to get hired to teach?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do you look like a teacher?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Comments You Never Get To Hear<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
And finally, some of the negative comments I wrote down were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cToo unprofessional\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLike a party man\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn the other pictures I cannot recognize people.\u201d (referring to low quality photos and photos where the teacher was in the background and too small to see)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t like symbols\u201d (referring to the blue head)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
